About Sõmerpalu Community House

The Sõmerpalu center building was completed in 1987 and originally functioned as a sovkhoz office. Over the years, the building has served as a club/community center, a municipal office, and a schoolhouse. Both the Sõmerpalu Basic School and Sõmerpalu Municipality ceased operations in 2017. Following the administrative reform, the building has operated as a service center. The Võru Parish Council and its committees have also held sessions in the building.

Currently, the Võru Municipality Culture and Youth Centre operates within the Sõmerpalu Community House. The building houses offices for center staff, the Sõmerpalu youth room, the Sõmerpalu branch library, the Sõmerpalu village society room, an assembly hall, and a sports hall complete with a gym, washing facilities, and a sauna, as well as a remote work room. Additionally, several other rooms in the building are rented out for various activities or services.
