    The nationwide youth work week 'Where Opportunities are Born' takes place from 10th to 16th of November. It is a great time to draw attention to the everyday life and importance of youth work and to look at its strengths and weaknesses. In 2024-2025, a quality assessment of youth work was carried out in Võru Municipality with the aim of mapping the current situation, identifying improvement opportunities, receiving feedback on the work being done, and raising awareness and importance of youth work.

    Ago Ruus opened his curated photo exhibition 'Two Old Photo Albums' at the Vastseliina Community Center on October 10. On the walls of the community center, two amateur photographers meet, originating from different worlds, but their work is united by a common location - Vastseliina, formerly known as Neuhausen and its surroundings.

  • Sports Coordinator Shared Experiences of Community Physical Activities at Movement Conference

    On October 8-9, a movement conference 'Kääriku Kärajad - For a Healthy Estonia!' took place at the Kääriku Sports Center in Valgamaa, focusing on Estonian identity, promoting physical activity, and the role of local governments in designing public spaces that encourage movement. The seminar was attended by Asko Saarepuu, the sports coordinator of Võru Municipality.

  • Autumn Season Progresses Sportingly in Võru Municipality

    This autumn, physical activity in Võru Municipality has been lively with many participants. In September, running training and BodyArt took place in Puiga and Vastseliina, respectively. In October, we moved on the terrain with and without poles, meaning the Võru Municipality Nordic walking day in Juba village and the opening hike of the hiking series in Verijärve-Andsumäe. A total of approximately 90 participants delight the organizers and add motivation for organizing future events.

    In September, practical workshops "The ABC of Healthy Well-being - How Does Food Support Us?" were held in the community centers of Lasva and Vastseliina as part of the project "Organic and Cozy," guided by Well-being Designer Egle Kõva.

    A 16-member delegation from the Võru Municipality's Culture and Youth Work Center was on a study trip in Sweden, in the Nordanstig municipality from September 14th to 19th, to gain new ideas and inspiration from a small municipality on how to make the activities more attractive and diverse and offer activities for people with various interests and abilities.

    Cultural workers from Võru County visited Rapla on the 9th-10th of September for their traditional autumn study trip to meet colleagues from another county, gain new experiences, and exchange ideas. This year, they explored Rapla. The diverse program included visits to both large and small community centers and cultural sector organizations.

    The journey of the "Iseoma" Song and Dance Festival fire reached Tallinn passing through Võru County, stopping on June 18th at Vastseliina Community Center, August Teppo's hayloft, near Parksepa Võru County Library, next to the memorial stone by Osula Basic School, and at Roosu Farm in Sulbi.

    In mid-June at the Navi Community Center, the 11th Võrumaa Community Singing Day saw a record 110 community singing enthusiasts coming together to sing a mix of well-known and lesser-known songs.

    On International Women's Day, March 8, Lasva Community Center celebrated its 50th anniversary. It was on this day in 1975 that the first party took place at Lasva Community Center.
